Versions are identified by unique version numbers. They consist of two numbers separated by dots. Both numbers must be between 0 and 32767.

1. The main version number includes a position for (more significant) version "jumps" -- before the dot -- and a position for (less significant) version "steps" -- after the dot.

   Examples are 0.1, 3.11, 4.5, 8.1
