5.2 CommunitiesCommunity is one type of object handled by BSCW. Communities can be created just like folders: File New Community . A community contains name, description and a set of keywords. A community can be open or semi-open; open communities are open for self-subscription to any registered user whereas subscription to semi-open communities require prior consent by the community managers. Communities can contain folders, documents, discussion forums, URLs and GroupCalendar. Access Rights: Community members have restricted access rights by default - manipulating or deleting documents (and other data) of other community members is not permitted. This helps protect the community's knowledge and takes into account the relative anonymity in a community. If you are not a member from a semin-open community you will see the name of the community and you can send an email to request invitation to become a member. As a community manager you will be able to allow for subscription and edit community's keywords. To access Communities, you may enter the specific Community or choose this item Go To Communities . |
