7.4 BSCW Uploader
As an alternative to the file upload function of your Web browser
you may use the BSCW Uploader program to upload documents to
your workspaces. The Uploader can upload several files "in one operation"
and in general it correctly recognizes the MIME types of the documents.
In addition, it displays a progress bar to show how
much longer it will take to upload the files.
- Functionality:
- multiple file upload
- drag'n drop of files into the upload window
- upload of folders as single files or compressed archive
- specification of the document type before upload
- specification of a description for each document
- progress bar for feedback of upload status
- multi-language user interface
- HTTP/1.1 (virtual hosts)
- HTTPS (SSL) - secure file upload
- select
Options
Preferences
from the menu to open the 'Edit preferences' form
- select (checkmark) Use BSCW Uploader for file upload and confirm your selection
- choose File
New
Document
to add a new document to a workspace - your Web browser will now download a file
from the BSCW server and will ask you how to handle this file
- instruct your Web browser to start the installed BSCW Uploader with this file
(The file is used to launch the BSCW Uploader and provide it with instructions on where
to upload the files to.)
- once you've configured your Web browser to start the installed BSCW Uploader,
the Uploader will automatically be launched every time you want to add a document in BSCW.
The BSCW Uploader may be used without a license fee.
- Requirements:
The BSCW JUploader 4.0 requires a Java(tm) compatible platform.
We currently provide installers for the following platforms:
-
Windows: 98/NT/2000/XP
-
Unix: SUN Solaris/Linux/other Unix
- other Java-enabled OS
Please note that there is currently no support for MacOS.
The uploader requires a Java(tm) virtual machine (JVM) of version 1.4 or later (J2SE JDK/JRE 1.4) and approximately 2 MB disk space. During the installation a search for installed JVMs will be performed. You have to choose a matching JVM - i.e. with a version of 1.4 or higher.
The uploader won't work with older versions of Java.
If you don't have Java installed on your system you may want to choose one of the provided installers with a bundled Java VM.
